Why I’m here:
I am here to be Discipled and to Disciple others (Matthew 28:19), so that I can be mature and complete, lacking nothing (James 1:4). My goal is to lift up others in the group (Galatians 6:2), spurring them on to love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).
I will pursue deliberate growth (Colossians 2:7), as I continue to substitute my “truth” for God’s truth (Rom 12:2). I will learn God’s truth by continual study of the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and through conversations with the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:10).
When I come to a gathering I will come teachable, vulnerable, and ready to risk (2 Corinthians 6:11-13; Matthew 19:26), willing to listen and engage (lean in) with others and what they bring. It is ok that I’m in process, as long as I’m willing to move forward and let the Lord be my strength (2 Corinthians 12:9-10).
I am an important part of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Ephesians 4:16), and it is important for me to bring things to this gathering that the Lord has put on my heart and has asked me to bring (1 Corinthians 14:26) for the encouragement of the group.
I will pray for the people in this group, engaging them personally during mealtimes and outside of meetings, caring for them and their needs (Acts 2:42-47). I am also willing to let this group care for me and love me (John 15:12).
I understand that this group is designed with the purpose of living a missional life with Jesus. I want to be full of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) and have a holy conviction and urgency that compels me to love well and share the gospel often (Galatians 6:9), even when inconvenient; teaching and discipling those who come to know Jesus (2 Timothy 2:2).
Above all I want to connect with Jesus in everything I do (1 Corinthians 10:31), worshipping and glorifying him always (Hebrews 13:15, James 1:17).
